I recently got bit by the Windows 7 bug and wanted to try it out like crazy, esp.ecially after receiving a whole lot of positive reviews on Facebook. I decided to take a back up of my laptop and then reinstall my old XP with a brand new version of ORIGINAL WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL, yeah, I got the original version thanks to MSDN, Microsoft's Student's network. Appreciate their effort in bringing out softwares free for students. Love ya Microsoft.
The installation process was damn simple, infact simpler than Windows XP itself. You just need to boot your system with CD/DVD as your first booting device and tadaaa, you will have an easier interface to partition and re-partition and etc. Then comes the very very simple process of installation, you don't need to be a computer geek to do the installation, just some proper knowledge of english would do. And soon, I had a brand new WINDOWS 7, gleaming on me.
I did have a few problems after the installation though.
1) My wireless network wouldn't be detected, for which i had to find an Intel Proset 2200BG Wireless driver (for Windows XP) and install it. I found out during the install that certain drivers have backward compatibility, i.e., you can install XP's drivers in 7 and it still works, how cool is that??
2) Certain very lovely softwares like Daemon tools while setting up come up with a warning saying it has known compatibility issues, just ignore the warnings and run the program, works like heaven.
3) There is no three people, that's all the probs i had, now Windows 7 is running and i find it smoother than XP in a lot of ways, I love this new interface and it wins over Vista hands down!
Cheers to Windows 7
P.S: I'm planning to install chromium OS on my PC
