A day at the Chennai Open...

Chennai Open will always hold a special place (no I'm not doing a Moya here). I've been watching tennis here since I was a kid. It was definitely fun to be back there, being all grown up, but still a kid at heart. I was not very much into tennis and I used to go to Chennai open, just to get the souvenirs (the Dunlop Forte balls, the towels, and the AUTOGRAPHS). I still wouldn't exactly call myself a tennis buff, but i do follow the game.

Going back to the court to watch India's only ATP tour was fun in itself. I had to bunk college half a day, and go to Nungambakkam to get hold of the tickets. As usual, I got my favourite West Brown tickets (West Brown is the cheapest, and btw, it's my favourite because you end up in closer stands with such a cheap ticket).

We first witnessed the match between Soderling & Ginepri , most of the crowd was supporting Soderling, and I was supporting Ginepri (I generally support the person who's not the crowd favourite). Ginepri actually won the match in straight sets, beating the crap out of Soderling, the so called Nadal and Federer slayer.

Then came the Somdev vs Schuttler match, I was as usual supporting the non-favourite Schuttler, and I was like soo excited unless I got embarrassed by some random person asking me to shut up, cos I was like talking too much. (I do talk a lot, when I actually feel like talking) And yea, I wasn't much silent from then on, although I was silenced a bit, not because of the person, but because Somdev was winning. And yeah, he did go on to win the match.

Then we watched a part of the Bopanna-Wawrinka match, which was lopsided to say the least. So we decided to leave to court no. 1 to watch what was happening, and we saw Kevin Kim win against some German..

We considered our options and considering that there was some stupid doubles match happening, we decided to leave. Adi and Vijay took the route to Anna Nagar, while I took the Kodambakkam, Vadapalani route to reach home. I almost crashed, thanks to a stupid bike rider who didn't have a clue of what he was doing, and i saw heavy traffic on the famed Kodambakkam bridge, which i later came to know, after going a lil forward was due to a head on collision right on the bridge. I guess there was quite an impact, wondering though how someone was driving at such a speed on a bridge, leave alone the possibility of a head-on collision, was weirdly crazy (wanted to take a photograph, but I'd have looked so dumb). Finally, the homecoming :)

Waiting for another opp to go to the Chennai Open.. (which i think will be pretty soon)
