Only a limited number of people will be taken on a first come first served

My dissapointing experiences:
One of the basic reasons I went to the IIT's Shastra this year was the Robotics workshop. The above paragraph was in their website!
I heard that the registrations for this workshop was not to happen on October 1st and so I didn't go! On October 2nd, being Gandhi Jayanthi, I got up really early and got my Shaastra ID and I was waiting for registrations to begin, but they kept on postponing it (shows sheer lack of organisation). There was still some more postponing and finally it was to start at 2 p.m! But then there was a huge unorganised crowd that formed, which showed their unpreparedness, and so they had to cancel it to the next day! October 3rd, we got news that there was going to be a pre selection procedure and so, we were waiting for the questionnaire to be given! The questionnaire was real easy and we got all the answers right(assumption: since we used GPRS Google, and google can't be wrong). The results were to be published on Oct 4th morning, and we eagerly went to only find that we were not selected!
Well, if that was not enough, they had also selected by lots! Then what was the use of questions?? Sheer stupidity!
All that I lost was nearly 2000 rupees in the form of fuel and 1000 for the food!! Well, IIT caused me a loss of 3k rupees! Yes, I'm whining!
Other experiences:
I attended the Shastra Main Quiz prelims! It was amazingly well organised and the quiz was just awesome! Really tough questions. Had fun there!
Then I attended a Retractable Structures workshop! It was pretty interesting as well.
The most interesting part of IIT itself was the SELF BALANCING BICYCLE, which on two wheels can balance itself and go to a specified location unmanned using GPS! That's way to go IITians! That was far beyond the imagination of even the most knowledgeable!
The other interesting part were the girls! Awesome attitude and really brainy - A deadly mix!!

I completley agree with you. I was there at Shaastra '08 and was selected for the Qualcomm Innovator Challenge . All that they did was they kept postponing. But neverthless, when it finally happened it went on well.
ReplyDeleteohh!! It finally happened for you, but for me it didn't happen only!!
ReplyDeleteHow was the Quelcomm innovators challenge by the way??
I so was irritated because I was waiting for such a long time in the hot sun! Next time, let me know if you are going for any technical event! We might as well meet up and say a HI!
I feel sorry about the disappointment. But I am glad you had a nice time apart from that.
ReplyDeletePS: Interesting observation about IIT girls.
