This is supposedly the flattened image of Earth at the night of the Earth hour!! I did pick it up from another website but I thought it would be nice to analyse it!! The Indians, Europeans, and the Americans seem to have completely ignored the Earth hour !! Though on other days, the usage is more, there wasn't much of a change in terms of energy usage (since this is the first time it is conducted throughout the world, it can be termed a grand success!!) Most of the other continents seem to be in OFF mode not because they followed the Earth hour, but because it was night already in those places!! It would be even more successful if it is made mandatory (by talking with all governments and coming to terms with them)!! The Earth Hour is definitely a great idea, but it has to be implemented with more intensity and with more cooperation from all bloggers, we can definitely turn this great idea into an even greater success!! Wish you luck (whoever created the idea)!!
awesome pic dude
ReplyDeleteHmmm, well, I'm not sure if it should be manditory, but it is a good idea for people to do on their own. It should not be manditory because that would invade on people's freedom.

Umm. You know why it's not dark everywhere? I think it's due to the fact that Earth Hour was 8pm LOCAL TIME. And it's not 8pm at the same time everywhere. Thus, some will be unlit due to it being 8pm and others will still be lit because they haven't caught up time-wise - although I'm sure they turned the lights off when it was their turn.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
its nasa picture composed of dozens of pictures.
ReplyDelete@ poornima, thanks a lot poornima!!
ReplyDelete@henry, well that's true too.. But one hour without power shouldn't be much of a discomfort!! Atleast we must try being without any power!!
ReplyDelete@ anonymous, Not many turned off their lights in our country but i did and everyone looked at me like a fool!!
ReplyDelete@cybrspin, I do know that!! But there was no point in mentioning that!! Why would i go publicize for NASA!!??
ReplyDeleteLook at Japan! And there are places where Earth Hour SHOULD be ignored.
